Event report

An afternoon of discussion and recognition.

The Maidenhead branch hosted a packed house in Reading on 14 June for an afternoon of regional updates, guest speakers and recognition for members and supporters.

Regional update

Berkshire Regional Manager Andrea opened the afternoon with the latest local election results. Newbury Chairman Ed acted as compere, keeping the programme flowing throughout the day.

Journeys into local government

Annie May O’Neill, a Young Reformer and law student from Epping, shared a funny and motivating account of her recent election as a town, district and county councillor.

The programme also included the newly appointed Maidenhead Branch Chairman, Gareth Davies, and Windsor branch representative David Buckley, who shared his experience as a councillor and chairman.

Awards and recognition

Members and supporters received medals and shields in recognition of their contributions over the previous year, including leaflet delivery, fundraising and campaign management.

Matt Goodwin’s closing address

Matt Goodwin closed the afternoon with a speech drawing on his book, Suicide of a Nation. He discussed his arguments about immigration, identity and demographic change, and their implications for Britain.

Thank you to the speakers, organisers, members and supporters who attended and helped make the afternoon a success.
