Discussion and audience at the Free Speech Event
Event report

When does speaking out become a crime?

Hosted by Reform UK Maidenhead Branch at Newbury Rugby Club, the Free Speech Event brought speakers and attendees together for an evening of discussion.

A huge thank you to Danny Kruger MP, Lucy Connolly, Allison Pearson, Professor James Woudhuysen, our Chairman Gareth Davies—who served as a policeman for 29 years—and Regional Coordinator Andrea Pigden for their contributions to the discussion: When does speaking out become a crime?

People travelled from far and wide, bringing positive energy to the room. There was plenty to think about, plenty to discuss and a wonderful atmosphere throughout.

Lucy’s book signing was a big hit, with copies of A Tweet Too Far heading home with attendees.

The conversations continued afterwards over drinks, with people sharing ideas, networking and making new friends—a reminder of how much bringing people together matters.

Thank you to our speakers, volunteers and everyone who joined us. You helped make it an evening to remember.
